Talk across English and Spanish, on one phone.

Habla en español o en inglés y la otra persona te entiende.

Tap the button and say something in either language. A few seconds later Habla shows it in both and reads the translation aloud, so the other person hears it in theirs.

Habla

Blue is English, red is Spanish. The dotted stretch is the app at work, from letting go of the button to the other person hearing the translation.

Recorded through the app on 24 September 2026. The two people are computer voices reading sample lines; what the app heard, its translations, its voice and its waits are as they happened. The first line after a quiet spell can take a couple of seconds longer while the server starts up.

What is said in the recording

  1. In English: Free on Saturday? I'm cooking at my place. Habla says in Spanish: ¿Estás libre el sábado? Voy a cocinar en mi apartamento.
  2. In Spanish: Dale, acere. Llevo unos frijoles negros. Habla says in English: Sounds good, bro. I'll bring some black beans.
  3. In English: Perfect. I'll pick you up at 6. Habla says in Spanish: Perfecto. Te recojo a las 6.

One button, either language

Tap it and talk, and it stops when you pause; or hold it like a voice note. Habla works out the language from the words, so nobody has to choose one first.

Both lines on screen, and out loud

Each line shows what was said and its translation, and a natural voice reads the translation. Tap a line to hear it again. The conversation is kept on the phone.

Spanish as it is spoken in Cuba

It says tú, carro and celular, and it knows Cuban slang: in the recording, “Dale, acere” comes out as “Sounds good, bro”.

The Spanish stays Spanish

Browsers offer to translate a page that mixes two languages, which turns the Spanish back into English. Habla asks them not to, and says how to switch it off when one does anyway.

Habla is private. It runs for two friends, and every line costs a little to hear, translate and voice, so it sits behind a shared code. The recording above is the way to try it.
